He was lucky with his expertise he was able to find a job relatively quickly in a field he was familiar with. John looked down at his mobile as the alert came through. Christ. It was going to take him at least twenty minutes, if he was lucky, to get to the scene. But, he packed his things into the case and headed out.

He had been in Afghanistan for five years. First as a medic, then a doctor, and finally a hunter. He still was a doctor, but he had been assigned to an elite unit in the desert. Part of him felt a bit odd about all of it. But he didn't quite mind.

He made sure he had everything before he left.

He heard the annoyed voices, before he saw anyone as he entered the room.

"Oi. Who're you?" A man with two days of stubble and mussed black hair asked.

John paused and looked him over before his eyes landed on the gentleman in the suit with salt and pepper hair. There he was. "DI Lestrade? I'm Doctor John Watson, the new Occult Specialist, I just started last month." He gave him a smile, wanting to be nice, but not too friendly. People got jumpy around the occult. He saw it all the time in Afghanistan, and even here in London.

It had been a rough couple of months. It'd taken a while for Sherlock and Martha to move into a routine where they didn't have to spend more time with each other than needed, but still not fight or let William notice that they didn't like each other.

And then, they decided on a house. They were going to keep Baker Street as an office, but they would live in this house. It was on the outskirts of the actual city of London, but they were able to keep William at his current school, which is what they all wanted.

Of course, at 6 months, he looked like he was 9 months and ready to pop. With two babies growing, he was much larger than he would have been with just one. The healer had been watching over them. They were small, as was expected, but healthy so far.

All this stress had put everyone at the end of their rope. Even William could of course see it, and it affected him as well, as much as they tried to keep him from it. He was a smart boy.

But at least he hadn't been here to see this argument.

Sherlock followed behind John a few moments afterwards, forgetting to grab his jacket in his rush.

"John! John!" He headed outside and was immediately bombarded by the sun. Of course it would be a hot, sunny day.

"John!" He looked around but the sun was blinking and burning him, and he had to duck inside Speedy's Cafe.

Bloody Buggering Fuck. Now he was burnt from the sun. He couldn't go after John and he'd have to go back outside again to get home.

"John?" Lestrade was walking back from his lunch break towards New Scotland Yard when he noticed a very pregnant John looking up at the sky.

"Are... you alright? Where's Sherlock? I thought he wasn't letting ya outta the flat until you had your baby? You look like you're about to pop. Lemme getcha a cab at least."

"Of course. One sec." He dialed his phone. "Sally? Look. I got something I gotta take care of real quick. I'll be back a bit late. Okay. Okay. Thanks." He hung up and offered his hand to John to help the very pregnant man to his feet.

"Come on, lets get you home>"

Greg chuckled, giving John's belly a quick look. "I couldn't believe it when he told me you two were having twins. And William seems pretty excited. He's gonna be a great big brother."

Greg took in a deep breath. He didn't see William a lot but he did babysit some and see him occasionally when he went to get Sherlock from Baker Street for a case. He was 'Uncle Greg" and that suited him fine.

"Gonna be weird, not coming to Baker Street any more." He admitted. "But the news house is very nice. Plenty of room."

"Yeah. We never really.. overtly talked about it, we talked around it, about how he doesn't wanna go, but he knows that it's for the best, and I know he'd do anythin' for you guys."

They turned a corner, just a few blocks from Baker Street now.

"I know the new house has room for more than just three. That mean you guys thinkin' about..." His voice trailed off. "Never saw Sherlock as a father. Vampires.. well,. they don't really tend to settle down. But he's an exception in a lotta ways, innit?"

"William's a good lad." Greg agreed with a nod. I'm sure your twins will be good kids as well, They have a couple'a good people raising them." They were silent for a bit as they walked. it was a pleasant silence. They were enjoying the warm sunshine of summer.

As they turned onto Baker Street, Greg was the first to notice that Sherlock was pacing back and forth under the awning of Speedy's cafe, and he looked.. pink.

"Sherlock?" He asked, stepping up his pace to try to get to the cafe to see if that was indeed the detective.

Sherlock's eyes went wide. Was that...

"John!" He took one step out from the awning, intending to run towards the man who was waddling towards him.

That only lasted a second, and then he was back under the awning again.

"Sure." Greg ran ahead, opening the thankfully unlocked door of 221 Baker Street and heading upstairs.

Sherlock hissed when John touched his sunburnt face, but he didn't shrink away. He wanted to make sure that this was real, that John was here and in front of him and touching him.

"John. John." Sherlock didn't care that it hurt when he kissed his mate. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to drive you off. You could have been hurt or killed out there and I was worried about you. I thought you might never come back. "

He was beside himself with worry, touching and kissing and John... JOHN.

"It'll heal. " He said simply. "Vampires heal faster than humans, It'll be gone in a day or so." both his hands and his face were still warm and tender to the touch, but being out of the sun was already helping a little.

Greg ran out of the building a moment later, panting and holding Sherlock's coat and gloves.

"Thank you." Sherlock said. It was a bit painful to get them on, especially the gloves, but he did it, put up the hood- down further on his eyes than usual, and made the short jaunt into 221B again.

Almost comically, Mycroft and Martha looked at each other.

"Sherlock, we still have a lot to- " Sherlock interrupted his brother. "Out, Mycroft." He turned to John's mother. " And you as well. We will take care of William today."

She opened her mouth, but Sherlock interrupted her. 'OUT."

She gave Sherlock a death glare, and looked at John as well, then made a portal and was gone.

Mycroft looked like he was about to say something, but he thought better of it, grabbed his umbrella, and left as well.

"I worry about you, and the stress of this move, but really need to get moved before you give birth. I think trying it with two tiny ones will be too much."

He sighed and looked around. The flat was much more empty than it ever had been. Most of the things, other than the essentials were over at the new house.

"It should only be a few more days, my love. Do you think you can hold out just a few more days?" Sherlock put his hand over John's, his eyes going a bit wide when he felt a kick, even through John's hand and the fabric. It wasn't the first kick, of course, but every time he felt it, it was still just as special.

"You need to tell them that they need to hold on at least another 3 or 4 weeks. Then they will be almost big enough. But they have a really good chance at 7 months. It isn't much longer."

Sherlock sighed. "I'd love it as well, John." He said. "But I 'm not sure that you should be traveling, especially when the babies could actually come at any time. I hope they wait until 8 months as well, but it's very unlikely when it comes to twins. They just run out of space."

He kissed John softly. "I'm sorry that I can't give that to you. You know I would if I could, if it was safe."

Sherlock chuckled. "Soon, my love. Soon." Sherlock came up and kissed him deeply. "You'll miss it soon, feeling them growing inside of you." He kissed John again. "And then, when you have healed up, and the babies are sleeping.." He leaned in and whispered in John's ear..

"You can turn into a demon and fuck me down into the bed and take me over and over and over."
