He was lucky with his expertise he was able to find a job relatively quickly in a field he was familiar with. John looked down at his mobile as the alert came through. Christ. It was going to take him at least twenty minutes, if he was lucky, to get to the scene. But, he packed his things into the case and headed out.
He had been in Afghanistan for five years. First as a medic, then a doctor, and finally a hunter. He still was a doctor, but he had been assigned to an elite unit in the desert. Part of him felt a bit odd about all of it. But he didn't quite mind.
He made sure he had everything before he left.
He heard the annoyed voices, before he saw anyone as he entered the room.
"Oi. Who're you?" A man with two days of stubble and mussed black hair asked.
John paused and looked him over before his eyes landed on the gentleman in the suit with salt and pepper hair. There he was. "DI Lestrade? I'm Doctor John Watson, the new Occult Specialist, I just started last month." He gave him a smile, wanting to be nice, but not too friendly. People got jumpy around the occult. He saw it all the time in Afghanistan, and even here in London.

"She's so tiny." He said, in a very soft voice, almost a whisper. He held her tightly protectively against his body, supporting her head like Papa showed him.
Elizabeth yawned and wiggled a little in William's arms, then settled in and closed her eyes.
"Is.. she going to sleep here, with me holding her?" He asked, his eyes wide.

He reached out and brushed William's curls out of his eyes. "You are their big brother. It's your job to protect them if Daddy and I can't." He said, "Just like Daddy and I, and Grandma and Grandpere protect you."

His eye went wide at the second part. "B-b-but why would and Daddy not be able to take care of them? I dunno how to do anything.. feed or change nappies or anything else.. I can't take of them, Papa!" There was more than a little edge of fear in his voice.

John looked over to his mate and smiled at him.

Sherlock couldn't help but laugh. Thomas was now asleep in his arms, and he came over so William could see his little brother as well.
"They sleep a lot, don't they?"
"You slept a lot when you were this small." Sherlock replied with a grin.

"Daddy will put the twins to bed and I'll go down and help you with your homework." He told his eldest.

Sherlock laid Thomas down in his cot, then gently took Elizabeth from his son's arms. "You two go ahead. I'm gonna stay here and watch them for a moment."
After they left, Sherlock kissed Elizabeth's soft curls and laid her down to bed.
He leaned down on the cots, watching the twins breathe soft and deep. He still couldn't believe his life. He now had three wonderful children, and a husband, all of whom he loved more than life itself.
"I love you two. so very, very much." He whispered, looking at them for another moment before he went out to join his mate and eldest son.
