He was lucky with his expertise he was able to find a job relatively quickly in a field he was familiar with. John looked down at his mobile as the alert came through. Christ. It was going to take him at least twenty minutes, if he was lucky, to get to the scene. But, he packed his things into the case and headed out.
He had been in Afghanistan for five years. First as a medic, then a doctor, and finally a hunter. He still was a doctor, but he had been assigned to an elite unit in the desert. Part of him felt a bit odd about all of it. But he didn't quite mind.
He made sure he had everything before he left.
He heard the annoyed voices, before he saw anyone as he entered the room.
"Oi. Who're you?" A man with two days of stubble and mussed black hair asked.
John paused and looked him over before his eyes landed on the gentleman in the suit with salt and pepper hair. There he was. "DI Lestrade? I'm Doctor John Watson, the new Occult Specialist, I just started last month." He gave him a smile, wanting to be nice, but not too friendly. People got jumpy around the occult. He saw it all the time in Afghanistan, and even here in London.

"Here, drink this. It won't taste good but it will dull the pain a bit. I don't want to stop all of the pain, because it will give us a good idea about what is going on, but it will be alot better. " He held the glass up to John's mouth so he could drink it.
no subject
"Alright." He swallowed and rested back. He hoped that his mother would get here soon with his mate.
no subject
"Sherlock." She said, when they were in her house. " Je-.. John is in labor. We need to get to him right now. " Without another word, she made another portal, and Sherlock immediately stepped through it with her.
"John..." Sherlock heard a scream of pain from behind this main shop room. He rushed back to find John on a slab, his legs up, and the healer was between his legs.
"John!"
no subject
"Fuck!" The pain was lessened, but it was still there. And these ones hurt.
"I'm going to murder you later." He promised.

He took a breath as another contraction hit. They were getting closer together. Fuck. He dropped his head back, taking deep breaths.
no subject
"John.." Sherlock ran his hand through John's hair. "You're doing so well. You're almost there."
no subject
He dropped back, gasping when the healer said the shoulders were free. He gave another push, squeezing Sherlock's as he did. Their child was here.
Was it a boy or girl?
no subject
Thankfully he wasn't human.
And then, finally, the head was free, one more push, and the shoulders came through. One more huge push and there was what seemed like an hour of silence.
It was only a couple of seconds.
There was a loud cry. It was their baby, screaming out to the world that it had arrived.
"Congratulations. It's a boy." The healer said, holding the baby up. He grabbed some towels and dried the still wiggling and screaming baby. He tied off and cut the cord, then wrapped up the baby and handed him to John.
"He looks healthy." He said, with a smile.
no subject
He then looked up at Sherlock, smiling. "What should we name him?"
no subject
And he was still crying.
And he was beautiful.
'I was thinking about William Hamish." What so you think?
no subject
"I like it."
John shifted to get his shirt off so he could feed William. He brought the babe to his breast.
no subject
The healer helped John deliver the afterbirth while William still drank, then he cleaned John up a bit, and gave them some time to be alone, the three of them.
no subject
He didn't know what the world had in store for their little boy, but he would do anything and everything to keep him safe and protect him.
no subject
Sherlock smiled softly, leaning down and kissing a now sleeping William first, then John. "He is." He said, his voice warm. "You did so well, love. You kept him safe for 8 months and 2 days, and now he is happy and healthy."
He sighed softly. "I don't know how long it will be before he starts showing traits of either being a Demon, or a Vampire. Usually Vampires are turned, not born, so he is quite unusual in that way. But he's unusual in a lot of ways, isn't he?" He chuckled.
no subject
"My abilities didn't manifest until I was fifteen, sixteen years old. So we may have time."
no subject
"Ask me what?" Sherlock turned to see a portal, and out of it stepped Mycroft. He didn't have a pendant like Sherlock did to change his look outside the shop. He was powerful enough that he didn't need it, it seemed.
no subject
"We were discussing when there is the possibility of William's powers manifesting." He answered, "And how did you get here? Vampires can't open portals to the underworld."
no subject
He took a step closer, then another, and a third, until he was close to Sherlock, and the sleeping child. "He looks a lot like you, child." Mycroft said, using the name that he had called Sherlock quite a lot when he was a young Vampire, still coming in to his own, learning what it was to be a Vampire.
Mycroft turned back to John. "You seem to forget that I have been in touch with your mother quite a bit since you two became.." He waved a hand dismissively ".. Friends. She made a portal for me."
He reached out and touched the baby, tenderly, his face softening for a moment, just a heartbeat, into something almost tender, then he drew his hand back and composed himself into his normal countenance.
"The child is half Vampire, his Sire's Sire is First Blood. Even one generation down, his blood will be strong. I have sired Vampires who have sired their own line, like you, Sherlock. And their offspring needed to drink blood from the moment they were born." He looked at John. "Mother's Milk will sustain him for a while, but I suggest that you drink from Sherlock often, as you did when you were pregnant, every couple of days, so that my progeny will get that which he needs."
"When he grows older and stronger, and no longer needs Mother's Milk, then he will need to feed as Sherlock does. Small animals should sustain him as he grows, but Sherlock will eventually have to teach him to feed from humans."
no subject
But he just sat there, quiet. But he was far from docile. He had never been docile.
"I will be sure he gets the proper care." John answered with a smile on his face. His eyes were tinged red, the only indicator of his anger.
no subject
But Mycroft beat him to it.
"My dear Japhrimel." Mycroft said, turning to John after he responded to him. "I have no doubts that you and Sherlock wants what's best for this child, and will attempt to give it to him."His tone was calm on the surface, but there was an undercurrent of danger. It was obvious that Mycroft did not fear John in the least.
"But he is of my blood as well, the blood of the First Born, and my progeny, and I will continue to ensure that he is safe from improper influences and learns the ways of the Old Ones." He leaned his head in a bow to John, then nodded to Sherlock. "I will be in touch. Give the child proper care." He threw John's words back at him, then he went through the portal, where it closed behind him.
no subject
"I want to go home." He snapped as he started to get odd the stone. He was done. So very done.
How dare Mycroft. His eyes were fully red now and he... He was going to shift soon.
no subject
"John.." Sherlock said, over their crying child. "You just had a baby. You were in labor for hours. He's less than an hour old. I understand that you want to go home, but you need to rest here. You don't have the strength to move quite yet."
no subject
Panic and worry spread across his face. "William... Is he...?" John didn't know.
Fuck he felt underprepared, but he knew they had done all they could.
no subject
Sherlock smiled at his lover. "He's fine. Either he's hungry again, which is likely, or somehow he sensed our unease and your anger. That is possible. We don't have any idea on what powers he may or may not have, and when they may manifest. He could be very in tune with us, or you at least, from the very beginning."
He walked over to John and very gently handed the newborn back to him, making sure to cradle his head and support his tiny body. He was healthy, with a health set of lungs to match, but he was smaller than a normal newborn. He hadn't have those extra 5 or 6 weeks to grow bigger.
