He was lucky with his expertise he was able to find a job relatively quickly in a field he was familiar with. John looked down at his mobile as the alert came through. Christ. It was going to take him at least twenty minutes, if he was lucky, to get to the scene. But, he packed his things into the case and headed out.

He had been in Afghanistan for five years. First as a medic, then a doctor, and finally a hunter. He still was a doctor, but he had been assigned to an elite unit in the desert. Part of him felt a bit odd about all of it. But he didn't quite mind.

He made sure he had everything before he left.

He heard the annoyed voices, before he saw anyone as he entered the room.

"Oi. Who're you?" A man with two days of stubble and mussed black hair asked.

John paused and looked him over before his eyes landed on the gentleman in the suit with salt and pepper hair. There he was. "DI Lestrade? I'm Doctor John Watson, the new Occult Specialist, I just started last month." He gave him a smile, wanting to be nice, but not too friendly. People got jumpy around the occult. He saw it all the time in Afghanistan, and even here in London.

He paused and looked at Sherlock. John let out a breath and smiled slightly.

"I always felt that was a bit racist." He shook his head, "And you have good intentions, which makes you not so bad. Despite the blood drinking."

He rubbed the back of his head. "And you're the only person in this whole damn city who doesn't drive me up the wall, to be honest."

He had totally stopped now, a couple of steps ahead of John. "I could say the same." He said.

Damnit, he thought to himself. It was now or never. He had to know, and there was no other excuse to keep John around. Invite him in now, before it's too late and he leaves again, and you may never get the chance to see him again.

Suddenly, he turned to the side, his face even more pale that usual. "Do you want to come back to mine?"

If it had been anything else happening, Sherlock would have thought that it was cute, the way that John's entire face turned red. But he knew that he was blushing as well.

"You mean like.." He heard John start to say, before Sherlock interrupted him before he lost his nerve.

"For.. coffee or.." He paused. "Not coffee.. Either way." His shoulders slumped and he closed his eyes, letting out a long breath. Crap, this was ridiculous.

"I'm not very good at this." He admitted, his voice only a whisper.

John's face was red, he could feel the way it crept up his face and tinged his ears. But his lips were turning upwards. "I mean... Yeah, you're terrible. But I'm not entirely opposed to... not coffee."

He met Sherlock's gaze and bit his lip. "But I'm not living with you."

"Well, we can talk about that later."

Immediately Sherlock walked the last few steps out of of the alley and flagged down a taxi. There was still time for John to change his mind, but thankfully he got in on the other side. It was a strange, quiet, awkward ride to Baker Street. Sherlock kept thinking that John was going to decide that this was a bad idea and back out of it.

Finally, the taxi stopped at 221 Baker Street. He got out and paid the man, then unlocked the door, looking over his shoulder to make sure that John was still there. He was.

He took John up the stairs and went in first, opening the door and holding it in, formally inviting the man into his abode.

John slipped into the cab and was grateful for the silence. It allowed him to go over everything from the past few days. He felt no remorse over killing that cabbie. Absolutely none.

He looked up when it stopped and then slipped out. John looked up at the building and then followed Sherlock in and up the stairs. He stopped when they got to the door.

Once Sherlock went in, he took a breath and stepped in after him. There was no going back now.

"Well this isn't..." he started, only to be cut off.

This was it. There was no going back now.

Sherlock leaned in, cutting John off by pressing him against the wall and kissing him fully while grabbing the lapels of his jacket. There was no hesitation, no tenderness, it was deep and passionate and needy.

John made a little noise, and that only egged Sherlock on more. Oh, how much he wanted to bite at John's neck, and make John his blood servant.

But first, he had to make sure that John was human, and he besides, kissing John sent his blood boiling, and he pressed his lips in again.

The kiss was a surprise. But he didn't push Sherlock away. He didn't end the kiss. He only pressed closer, feeling his hips shift along Sherlock's. It felt like lightening go through him.

"This is surreal..." he started, "I'm supposed to be afraid of you."

He started to push Sherlock's heavy coat off as he felt his being pushed off.

"I'm supposed..."

John moaned and moved with Sherlock further into the flat. "No biting, no blood." He didn't want to see the vampire hurt.

Every part of Sherlock said BITE TAKE FUCK.... But he had a plan, and he had to stick to it. Sherlock pulled John's coat off his shoulders, and it met his on the floor beside the door.

Slowly, but surely, Sherlock kissed and licked and all but nipped, so close, but he held himself back. He held one hand on the small of John's back, and one on his arse, over those bloody annoying trousers that were going to need to go, and very soon.

After kicking the jackets off to the side, both of his hands went to John's arse, giving each cheek a squeeze. His eyes went deep red, and he used his Voice, his Thrall.

"Let me... I NEED..."

He groaned, wanting to get lost in the kiss. Sherlock certainly knew what he was doing and it felt like he wanted to give into all of it. But he didn't want to rush into anything. Especially not an adrenaline fueled one.

And then Sherlock grabbed his arse and... It shot a wave of lust through him.

John pulled back, putting his hands on the man's shoulders. "Hey, woah, slow down..." He smiled at Sherlock. "This is sudden. I want to, but we don't have to rush."

Sherlock moved his hands off of John's arse, and leaned just far enough away that he could speak.

"Fascinating." He said, as one hand dropped to his side, and the other took John's opposite hand.

"What?" He heard John respond.

"There are stories.." He said, all the time gently pulling John into the room and settling him into the middle.

"..About humans who can resist a vampire's Thrall." Sherlock reached back and turned on the light.

"It's a well guarded secret that..." He looked John in the eyes "...Those stories are invariably not true." He looked down, and invited John silently to do the same.

Why had the kissing stopped? It was sudden, but he was alright with it. The kissing was brilliant. He let out a breath and moved with Sherlock further into the room.

And then that brilliant vampire was talking and John wanted to swear and and... He knew, he fucking knew. Shit.

His eyes flicked downward, feeling his stomach drop. "Sherlock..." John raised his head, looking at the man, "Why am I in a trap circle?"

"There is no magic or talisman that is powerful enough to protect a human from a vampire's Thrall within thier territory." Sherlock said, ignoring the question.

"They immediately enter a compliant state and only respond to direct questions or commands." Now, it was time to find out what he had needed to know since the first time he laid eyes on John Watson.

"Which leads to the question... What ARE you?

He tried to pull his hand away. But it was held tight. "Hold on a second..."

"No wait let me explain."

John couldn't help the slight panic thsy was creeping into his voice. Sherlock didn't understand.

No. This couldn't be happening.

Sherlock still had a hold of his hand. John looked like a deer in headlights, he was pale and sweating. It was quite obvious that he was hiding something, but Sherlock didn't know what it was.

Yet.

He was about to.

"The circle is harmless, as you know, but whatever creature you are, it will reveal you. "

John was looking away from Sherlock, down at the circle. He tried to cry out. "Wait!"

But Sherlock spoke the word, still holding onto John's hand.

"CONFINE."

The entire apartment was bathed in an almost blinding white light, brighter than the brightest sunny. day. There was the intense crackle of magic, red beams mixing with the white light.

It seemed to last forever, though it was really only a few seconds.

And when it cleared, Sherlock couldn't believe his eyes.

John clung to Sherlock's hand as he felt the power of the circle around him start to flow over. He dropped to his knees, his free hand coming up and grabbing his hair. And oh...

Oh...

The power faded and he was trembling ever so slightly.

He lowered his hand and looked up. "Let me explain..." John said as he flexed his wings.

Sherlock went paler than usual, his eyes were wide, his whole body stiff.

And yet, he was still holding John's hand. Only now each finger was tipped with sharp, thick onyx black claws.

"A DEMON." He said, his voice shaky. So that was what John was. He was a demon.

But.. it made no sense.. if he was a demon, then why was he hunting his kind?

"A demon, hunting demons for the Yard." He said. "Are you a spy?"

John's eyes widened and he put his hand up. "No, no!"

"It's a long story, but I do not work for the Underworld."

He rose to his feet. What was Sherlock going to do? Report him? Banish him. He was nervous and worried. He finally had thought he found someone similar to him. But he hadn't seen this coming.

A long story, huh? Sherlock thought to himself. This was a story that he was going to have to get out of John. But not right now. Right at this moment, there were more important things to think about.

"You're a DEMON." he said, again, still not able to believe it. He knew that John wasn't human, but he never would have guessed that John was a demon. That changed EVERYTHING.

But that still didn't change the lust that he felt for this man.. this Demon.

"Half demon. Listen.." John started, but Sherlock interrupted him again, finally dropping their clasped hands.

"A HYBRID?" He asked, incredulous. Was that even.. possible? " I have only heard stories." His hand went to John's horns, small and rounded, the points were sharp but not razor sharp, and he investigated the horns, touching every little part of them, feeling the texture and shape and every little part of them.

"When they find out what you are, you'll be banished. " He said, still rubbing John's horns.

"Sherlock please..." John whispered.

He looked so frightened and worried. Sherlock seemed so fascinated. But what would happen when the fascination wore off? When he was just a novelty...

He listened to Sherlock speak, the words were frightening, but truth.

"I know."

And then... He was being asked to move in. "Huh?"

He didn't want to scare John, but the man deserved to know the truth.

"You'll be found out." He said, putting his hands on either side of John's face. "There will be a white circle or holy rune at a crime scene that will show them what you are. Someone will see too much death and murmur a prayer, and you will be exposed." If it was possible for John to go even more pale, he did.

"You try to hide in plain sight my working directly with dark magic. First the war, and now the unit..." He pauses. "But there will be a point when it will end. "

John sounded so defeated when he said that he knew.

But Sherlock already had an idea forming in his mind.

"Those laws still don't allow them to violate a vampire's territorial rights." He said, his voice getting more and more excited. He gripped John's shoulders hard. "You should move in with me."

John's surprised "Huh?" Just raised his excitement.

"If you live on my property, then no one can touch you, mo matter where you go, or what you are" He said, a big smile on his face. It was perfect.

"And once they know what you are, you will be even MORE useful!" He went a bit more somber for a moment.

"Well, as long as Mycroft keeps his fat hands to himself.

Of course he expected John to ask who Mycroft was. It was a slip of the tongue, to mention his name. "Don't worry about it." He flapped his arms in a dismissive gesture, hoping that John would drop it.

John listened and felt his heart drop. He knew. He knew this couldn't last forever. That he would be found out. He knew that it would happen.

But what Sherlock was saying. It was plausible. But...

"So, you set this all up so I would be even more useful on cases?" That stung. He had thought that maybe... Just maybe Sherlock might have...

"Do you even..."

John hated that he was constantly being interrupted. Spoken over. He didn't like being railroaded.

"I'm what?" He asked dryly.

While he was hoping that John would be useful on cases, that actually was not his main intention, so he explained himself.

"I set this up simply to make certain that you were not a ghoul, or a construct sent by an enemy." Hell itself knows that he had made plenty of those in his 400 years.

"Or than you had some other condition that you were not aware of."

God, he was beautiful like this, so vulnerable and fucking perfect. Over his centuries, he had had plenty of lovers, but never a demon, and never, ever a man like John Watson.

"But instead, you're.... " He paused. This was it, the moment of truth.

When John asked "I'm what?" He leaned in and kissed John again. It started soft, and gentle. He pulled away just long enough to say. "Perfect." and then leaned back in, wrapping his arms around John tight and deepening the kiss.

John wasn't used to showing his vulnerability. But it just seemed to come out around Sherlock. It was odd. Almost as if his subconscious trusted the vampire.

He looked up at him and then a slight shudder ran through him as this mad man kissed him. It was soft, gentle and everything he wasn't used to.

How was he perfect? He didn't understand. But then Sherlock was kissing him. More and more. Deeper.

"Shit Sherlock..." John managed when they pulled apart, his hands resting on Sherlock's chest, "What do you want from me?"

He paused when the vampire told him 'everything's, the expression on his face flat. "Wait, Sherlock... I appreciate your offer. But you know demon's blood will melt a vampire's face off. So..."

Sherlock's hands wandered lower, until they were just above the waistline of his trousers. Since John had no shirt on now, he could feel the warm, smooth planes of his skin.

When John asked the question, the answer came as easily as breathing. "Everything." He didn't have to hesitate or think about it for a moment. Oh god, he still wanted to bite the man, and as he whispered that one word into his ear, he almost did.

But then John reminded him why he shouldn't. Demon blood was death to vampires.

Sherlock drew back just a tiny bit. "I'm not asking you to be my blood servant." He replied. "It's logical and practical, and it would be brilliant.." Another pause.

"Our partnership." Sherlock leaned in and kissed and licked at John's bare shoulder, while his hand moved down his smooth front and rubbed at the front of those trousers.

"We'd be perfect together." His voice was barely a whisper on those last words.

His head spun from the words and the touches. Oh. Oh wow. He shivered, feeling his trousers starting to tighten. Oh it had been so long and he wanted... He needed.

"Wow..." he breathed, bracing his hands on Sherlock's shoulders. The man was now on his knees in front of him and he... Oh god. He wanted it. All of it.

"For a four hundred year old you move really fast." John looked down at him.
